2 'That's tough to get right.'
'Men. Women. All ages. At the Huntington drawing from life is taken seriously.'
'What about an artist like Frank R. Paul?' said Jerome. 'Those
Martians in Amazing Tales aren't drawn from life. They're drawn from
imagination. Great though.'
'Frank Paul was an architect,' said Joe, 'before drawing for Amazing Tales he'd done
architectural drawings.'
'His figure drawing is okay too.'
'Yeah, but buildings are really his thing.'
'Pretty good.'
'Margaret Brundidge does the best girl art.'
Joe Shuster passed a copy of another magazine to Jerome from the half-dozen he'd bought at the news-stand.
'Jerry, just look at the shading on this Operator 5.'
'That's because she's a woman. She
shades like a woman. Lots of contrasting tones.'
'Yeah, she works in pastels. That's tough to get right.' |
